Health

• The Cayman Islands has two modern hospitals in George Town, The government run George Town Hospital and the private Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital. Facilities are on a par with the US although major medical emergencies may require evacuation to the US. Miami is just a 90 minute flight away.
• There is also the tiny Faith Hospital on Cayman Brac.
• There is a recompression chamber at George Town hosiptal.
• No vaccinations are required to enter the Cayman Islands although Hepatitas A is recommended.
• Denque Fever can be spread by mosquitos so repellant should be worn.
• Water is considered safe to drink on the Cayman Islands.

Insurance

Money

• The Cayman Dollar (KYD or CI$) is the national currency and is fixed to the US$ at .8 KYD to the dollar.
• The US$ is also widely accepted and George Town ATM's dispense both currencies.
• As you would expect, banking facilities are excellent on Grand Cayman with plenty of banks and ATM's in George Town.
• However on Little Cayman and Cayman Brac facilities are more limited so it is best to take money with you.
• Credit and debit cards are widelyt accepted as are travellers cheques.
• A service charge is often added to hotel and restaurant bills. If no service charge is added in restaurants it is common to tip 15%. taxi drivers also expect a 15% tip.
