Getting There
- TACV (Cabo Verde Airlines) fly from most European cities. They also fly from Boston, New York, Atlanta, Dakar and Johannesburg..
- TAP Air Portugal fly to Cape Verde from London via Lisbon.
- Flights land on Sal and Praia.
Visas
- Your passport should be valid for 6 months past your intended departure date from Cape Verde.
- All nationalities require a visa
Climate
- Cape Verde has an arid, desert like climate with temperatures around 24-30 °C although ocean currents keep the temperature pleasant year round.
- August to October are the rainy months with short sharp tropical showers. September is the wettest month. April to July are the driest months.
- Mountain areas are cooler.
Health
- Malaria is present on Santiago from September to November. Other islands are Malaria free.
- Health centres and pharmacies are available on all the inhabited islands. Standards are not up to a western level and major medical emergencies are flown to Lisbon.
Personal safety
- Cape Verde is one of the safest places to be in Africa. The crime rate is low but it is obviously sensible to take all the usual precautions to avoid theft of personal belongings.
- It is recommended to take taxis after dark.
