Bermuda Tourist Information

Accommodation

  • There is no getting around that Bermuda is an expensive place to stay. Most hotels are at the luxury end, there are no budget options. The Caribbean is much cheaper.
  • Visiting in the winter can save you up to 40% on hotel/resort prices.
  • The cheapest accommodation is if you sail in on your own yacht.

Electricity

  • 110V, 60 Hz AC (North America and Canada standard). 2 pin plug.

Public Transport

  • Metered taxi's are available at the airport and can be called from hotels (expect a delay, the work on "Bermuda time"). You can also negociate an hourly rate with a taxi driver to act as your island guide. This can be an enjoyable way to sightsee.
  • Public buses are also available and provide a cheap and efficient service but do not accept luggage. Pink bus stops indicate buses to Hamilton and blue bus stops indicate from Hamilton.
  • Hire cars are not available at the airport or anywhere else on Bermuda, only locals are permitted to drive cars.
  • Motorbikes and scooters are available for rent. Road rash is a common tourist injury.
  • Bermudans drive on the left. Roads are narrow and winding.
  • Horse and carriage rides are a romantic way to get around.
  • Town's can easily be seen on foot.
  • Ferries can be a scenic way to travel between islands instead of taking the bus.
