Electricity
- 110V (North American standard)
- Those interested in how electricity is generated on the island can arrange a tour of the power plant.
Public Transport
- Taxi rates are fixed, set by the Government, and are based on the destination rather than mileage traveled.
- Car and bike rental is widely available.
- Organised tours of Aruba are easy to arrange at your hotel.
Food and Drink
- There are far too many restaurants to mention here. You can get whatever you want to eat in Aruba.
- Most Aruban restaurants will add a service charge of 10-20%.
Public Holidays and Festivals
- The Bon Bini Festival is a celebration of Aruban music and dance with local food and crafts showcased. It’s held in the Fort Zoutman courtyard every Tuesday evening all year round.
- Public offices will be closed each year for New Years day (1 January), GF Croe’s Day (25 January), National Anthem and Flag Day (18 March), the Queen’s birthday (30 April), Labour Day (1 May), Christmas (25-26 December). They also close for Easter in late March/early April.
Dos and Don’ts
- Cover up to enter shops or casinos, do not enter in your swimming gear.
