Public Transport

  • Antigua is a small island and the easiest way to get around is by car. You can hire cars and any number of rental agencies (they’ll also sell you the required Antigua driving license).
  • You can also rent motorbikes and bicycles in many places around the island.
  • For short journeys you can hail a cab in the main tourist areas or order one by phone in other areas. Taxis are distinguished by their H plate and are not metered so you should agree the fare in advance.
  • Buses and minibuses are cheap but only go to certain parts of the island.
  • As the island is so small many people choose to see all the major sites in a one day organized tour and these can be arranged locally. Day tours are also available to Barbuda Island.
