Getting There

  • V.C. Bird International Airport has daily flights from the US and UK.
  • V.C, Bird Airport is also a hub for flights to smaller outlying islands like Barbuda, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, St Kitts, Nevis, St Martin and Dominica and many tourists choose to stay at more than one island on their Caribbean holiday.
  • Taxi’s can be arranged at the airport or at Redcliffe or Heritage quays where the cruise ships arrive.

 

Visas

  • All visitors to Antigua and Barbuda require a valid passport, a return or onward ticket, confirmation of their accommodation and sufficient funds for their stay.
  • Citizens of the US, European Union and most Commonwealth countries do not require a visa to enter Antigua and can stay for up to six months providing the above conditions can be met.
  • If you arrived in Antigua by sea and wish to depart by air you must have an official sign-off letter from the Skipper (as well as your ongoing ticket) releasing you to do so.
  • A departure tax is payable on leaving Antigua and Barbuda.

 

Climate

  • Antigua is a year round destination with warm temperatures of around 25-30 degrees C.
  • Mid December to April are the best months with the lowest rainfall and the cooling trade winds.
  • September and October are the most humid months.
  • June to November is potential hurricane season, August/September are the highest risk months.

 

Personal Safety

  • Antigua is a friendly island. Standard, common sense guidelines apply.
  • Petty crime is not common but it does happen so take care of your valuables. Don’t leave then unattended and on display in your hire car, on your balcony, or on the beach while you swim.
