Kenya Dive Sites - Kisite dive sites

The dive sites in the Kisite Atoll take a bit more effort to get to but divers are rewarded with stunning reefs and diverse marine life.

Outer Kisite is home to large stingrays and turtles as well as small ghostpipefish and jawfish. The variety of fish life here is incredible. Divers can normally find octopus and lobster. Crocodile fish, trigger fish, scorpionfish, lionfish and sweetlips can also be seen. Dolphins are usually seen here and swimming with them is possible.Dolphins, mother and baby

Inner Kisite is just the shallow inner end of the outer Kisite reef, ideal for less experienced divers. Turtles can also be seen here. The reef depth is just 3-8m so this site is great for snorkellers too.

Nyuli is a deep dive where the larger pelagic species are always seen. The reef starts at 28m and drops beyound 50m, this is a dive site for experienced divers only. Schools of barracuda and trevally hunt over the reef. White tip reef sharks and leopard sharks can be seen in deep water. Large groupers and Napoleon wrasse are also seen. Manta rays are common here.

Pink Reef is another contender for the best reef award. Pink and purple soft corals give this pretty reef it's name. There are lots of stingrays here but this site is better for spotting the weird and wonderful reef creatures like frogfish, leaf scorpionfish, pipefish and nudibranchs. Maximum depth is 14m

Dolphin Point is a shallow reef where divers can interact with friendly dolphins if they are lucky. The reef starts at 4m and drops to 12m. Pristine coral is home to all the usual reef fish.

Shimo Ndogo is a wall dive that starts at 15m and drops to 27m. Currents can be strong here so this is a drift dive where divers hover and watch as the beautiful coral goes by.

Hassan Reef is covered in beautiful blue soft corals full of colourful anthias and damselfish. Other reef fish here include angelfish, butterflyfish, sweetlips, wrasse, parrotfish and lionfish. Nudibranchs and seaslugs can be found. Green turtles are sometimes spotted.
