Kenya Dive Sites - Diani Beach and Chale Island dive sites

Diani beach on the south coast of Kenya has some excellent dive sites of it's own. Plus the dive sites of Kisite Marine Park and the Pemba Island can be reached from there. From October to March the dive centre on Diani beach take divers and snorkellers out to see whale sharks. Dolphins normally join boats on their voyage.Blue fin trevally

 

Waa Wreck. HMS Hildasay, a minesweeper, ran aground on 21 June 1945 and now lies upside down in the sand at 24m. The wreck itself is of limited interest but the hull is completely covered in coral, encrusting sponge and sea whips and lots of interesting fish life can be found here. Reef sharks can be seen here. There is a reef close by that is full of small species and is perfect for novice divers.

Kasa Kubwa is a shallow reef that is often frequented by green turtles. Stingrays can be seen in the sand at 22m. Schools of snapper and fusilier swim over the reef top at 10-14m.

Miru is a deep dive. The reef starts at 27m below the surface and drops down to 50m. The wall is covered in seafans, crinoids and sea whips. Large schools of snapper are always seen. Schools of barracuda like the currents on this dive site.

Kikadini Reef has some pretty coral and anemone gardens on the shallow top with a drop off to 24m where all the usual reef fish can be seen.

Pongwe can be an easy drift dive with impressive corals, particularly on the south end. Maximum depth is 22m.

Maweni has a good mix of small critters as well as the chance to see manta rays and other large pelagics. The coral formations start at 6m below the surface. Mountainous brain corals are an impressive underwater sight. Maximum depth is 24m.

Capricho is home to turtles on the shallow reef around 15m and stingrays in the sand at 22-25m.

Twiga has some very impressive coral formations and a beautiful anemone garden. Maximum depth is 20m.
